METHODOLOGY
In a effort to make players and parents more aware about the methods and systems in place, we list below some of the key aspects behind the Nassau HPTA methodology:
Our HPTA methods are based on the USTA Player Development Philosophy and Coaching Methodology, which was responsible for transforming the reality of American tennis in the recent past:
-
From 1995 to 2008 (period pre-philosophy) the U.S.A. had 2 Junior Grand Slam singles Champions
-
From 2008 to 2023 (period when this philosophy and methodology was implemented) the U.S.A. had 22 Junior Grand Slam singles Champions
The USTA PD Philosophy is based on “the 5 Ps”, listed below. Nassau High Percentage Tennis Academy adds an additional “3 Ps”, as follows:
-
Percentage Tennis
-
People
-
Positive
-
Patience
-
Progressions

Percentage Tennis
We believe that playing aggressive, but high percentage, tennis is the best way to develop players. Therefore, we strive to develop complete players that have a high level of understanding of their strengths, weaknesses, and primary patterns of play. We play high percentage tennis!
People
We are in the business of developing not only tennis players, but also people. Therefore, character traits such as discipline, work ethic, respect, humility, team work are heavily emphasized in our program.
Positive
Creating a positive, but challenging environment, is of utmost importance to create high performance players. Our staff strives to not only provide corrections but also to stimulate and recognize the player’s strengths in a positive and realistic manner.
Patience
Understanding that it takes years to develop and mold a highly competitive player is essential. Therefore, the program will work closely with parents and players to ensure that they can recognize the big picture and the steps needed, in the short-term, that will keep the player on the desired track for the long-term.
Progressions
Utilizing progressions and regressions as a method to gradually build the skills needed is a proven and efficient manner to develop a player’s skillset while building on success.
Parameters
Understanding the range of acceptability, from a technical development perspective, and ensuring that players are within those parameters from an early age is an essential component for long-term success. Through video analysis and a heavy emphasis on technical development, our program strives to create technically and tactically-sound players.
Planning & Goals
Being pro-active and well-informed can significantly enhance the player and parents’ ability to make proper decisions throughout their career. Our staff leads this process by providing regular group and individual meetings, in order to give participants essential information that can positively impact their developmental journey.
Problem Solving
Developing independent thinkers and problem solvers on-court is a key aspect that is heavily emphasized in both group and private sessions. Our game-based approach, challenges players to think and adapt; thus making them more versatile, creative, and independent during competition.
